Published Aug 6, 2009 7:05 PM

Filipino students and others demonstrated in front of the new Federal Building on 7th Street in San Francisco on July 27 to demand no U.S. tax money for the tortures carried out under the dictatorship of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, justice for Melissa Roxas, and more money for education, jobs and healthcare for all in the United States. Participants from all over the San Francisco Bay Area included Bayan-USA, Gabriela-USA, Anakbayan-East Bay, and the San Francisco chapters of the Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines and the League of Filipino Students. The next activity is remembering and demanding justice for all the victims of the Arroyo administration on the International Day of the Disappeared, Sunday, Aug. 30, in the Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Public Library.

A similar demonstration took place on July 31 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York where Arroyo was staying on her visit to the U.S.
