Mark Nov. 15-16

Workers World Party conference

Published Sep 18, 2008 9:40 PM

Workers World Party will be holding a national conference in New York City Nov. 15-16. The general theme of the conference will be “Challenges and tasks facing our movement following the 2008 elections.” The venue for the conference will be announced soon.

Plenaries, discussion groups, strategy sessions and cultural performances will focus on themes of prime importance for workers, oppressed people and  youth. There will be an assessment of the elections, no matter who wins, and the impact of the deepening economic crisis on the workers and oppressed—what it is and how we can fight back. Reports will highlight the struggle for self-determination against imperialism in the Middle East, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and inside the U.S., and the need to push forward the class struggle by uniting against racism, national oppression, immigrant bashing, women’s oppression and LGBT oppression. Fight Imperialism, Stand Together (FIST) activists will speak on organizing youth and students and why capitalism is the problem and socialism is the solution.
