Teachers in solidarity with Oaxacan workers
Published Nov 19, 2006 12:04 PM
Despite gusts of rain, 100 or more faculty, staff
and students from the City University of New York as well as
other progressives went to the Mexican Consulate in New York Nov.
13 to protest the attacks on the teachers and other workers in
Oaxaca, Mexico.
The demonstration was called by the Professional Staff
Congress/Federation of Teachers Local 2334, the union that
represents the faculty and professional staff at CUNY. It was the
third action that the PSC has called since June, in its attempt
to put the Mexican government on notice that the labor movement
in the United States is in solidarity with its sisters and
brothers under attack in Mexico.
The PSC has also sent money so the teachers in Oaxaca
could rebuild their radio station. Go to workers.org to read more
on this important struggle.
