Katrina survivors march on anniversary

Published Aug 30, 2006 11:15 PM

Some 1,000 people, mainly Katrina survivors, marched in New Orleans on Aug. 29— the first anniversary of the day Hurricane Katrina hit the city—from the site where the levees were breached in the Ninth Ward to a rally at Congo Square. They demanded “Justice for Katrina survivors,” including the right to return and full reconstruction of the Gulf Coast. Young people, shown above, from the ninth ward stand in front of names of the victims who perished during Katrina at Congo Square.
