Hamas, PFLP hold joint meeting in Beirut

The following joint statement was posted on Resistance News Network on Jan. 29, 2024.

A Hamas delegation visited the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine headquarters in Beirut, confirming that no exchange of prisoners will take place until a complete stop to the aggression. They called for a complete withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza before any exchange, on the basis of all Zionist prisoners for all Palestinian prisoners.

Both parties praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, their adherence to their land and their resistance in Gaza and the West Bank. They demanded the permanent opening of the Rafah crossing, as well as the entry of food, medical aid and fuel, as well as providing housing and tents for the people of Gaza.

They praised the decision of the International Court of Justice, which indicted the Zionist entity on charges of genocide. They also condemned the Zionist-Western incitement campaign against UNRWA [United Nations Relief and Works for Palestine Refugees Agency], which led to the halting of financial support to the agency, noting this as an escalation against the Palestinian people everywhere.

Finally, they stressed the importance of unifying the Palestinian front by forming a unified national leadership for the Palestinian people until the Palestine Liberation Organization is rebuilt and activated, establishing a national consensus government that will supervise the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, working to unify the institutions of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, conducting legislative and presidential elections, and new National Council elections from inside and outside the homeland, then developing a single national strategy to confront occupation, settlement, Judaization and displacement, protect rights and sanctities and continuing the resistance and struggle until liberation, return and independence.
