Laundry workers celebrate third anniversary

It was a warm and classy – in all senses of the word – event to celebrate the Laundry Workers Center’s third anniversary on Sept. 27. The LWC addresses the need for community-based leadership development geared toward improving the living and working conditions of workers, as well as their families. Its work aims to combat abuses such as landlord negligence, wage theft, and hazardous and exploitative working conditions, which are especially prevalent in low-wage jobs and communities.

Some 75 people from New York’s progressive movement enjoyed good food, beer, meeting old friends and talking at the event, held at the Solidarity Center in New York City, all while contributing to the ongoing efforts of the LWC.
