Honor Alan Blueford: No war on Black, Brown youth

On the second anniversary of the killing of young Alan Blueford by Oakland Police Department Officer Miguel Masso, several hundred people responded to the Blueford family’s invitation to use their “heels to heal” in a walk around Oakland’s Lake Merritt on May 3. The four-mile May 3 walk included a sound truck from which Kev Choice, Jasiri X, Zar Tha Dip, Ras Ceylon, SON – Somethin Outta Nothin, Moe Green and Phanom Iso all performed. The Bluefords called this as a time for community unity while celebrating and honoring Alan’s life. They wanted to express to the community that Alan’s life matters — all lives matter — including Black and Brown ones.
