Yet another ICE killing

Biddeford, Maine

July 13 — This morning, on a hot sunny day, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was in the area of Pool Street in Biddeford, Maine. 

At around 7:30 a.m., their agents approached a 26-year-old Colombian man, Joan Sebastian Guerrero, who had authorization to work in the U.S. He had been given a Social Security number. Guerrero is the father of a three-year old daughter.

Video footage from a house camera shows him going to the door of his car when he dropped to the sidewalk after being hit by bullets. He died on the sidewalk. ICE shot him dead!  He was not even the person ICE was looking for, but in typical “blame the victim” fashion, the Department of Homeland Security vaguely claims the ICE thug was “fearing for public safety.” (CNN, July 14)

Protests erupted immediately in Biddeford, throughout Maine and elsewhere. ICE agents killed Guerrero less than a week after they killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston.

We workers don’t have borders. We speak more than one language. We flee nations that the U.S. and Europe attack and control to escape poverty and repression.

It was Marx and Lenin who defined the state as a body of armed men. Trump and the billionaire class created this militia, ICE, to crush and deport workers. 

We will not let them kill us. We will organize resistance. The people united will never be defeated!
