Iran continues aid to Venezuela

Despite the ongoing trading of bomb strikes with the U.S., Iran has managed to deliver several tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela, following the country’s recent devastating earthquakes. The cargo consisted of ready-to-distribute food kits, diapers, towels and cooking oil. 

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto said the aid came along with a message of solidarity and unity. He called the aid “exceptional” and added that the friendship between the peoples of Iran and Venezuela grows stronger every day. (WANA, Jul 10)

Gil also said the rapid handling and distribution of the aid was made possible by the logistics infrastructure developed under the Bolivarian Revolution during the administration of Commander Hugo Chávez. (Telesur, Jul 10)

The relationship between Venezuela and Iran was initially developed by former President Hugo Chavez, particularly in the areas of energy production, economic development and industrial cooperation. The relationship continues until today. 

It became stronger during the administration of President Nicolás Maduro, enabling Venezuela and Iran both to survive sanctions imposed by the United States against their countries, much to the chagrin of the United States. (The Algemeiner Journal, November 2023)
