Houston: People’s Pride

Houston hosted its first ever People’s Pride this year as part of a series of events held in June for members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community who oppose pinkwashing and imperialist war.  [Pinkwashing here refers to putting the Israeli government in a positive light based on its phony support for LGBTQIA2S+ rights, covering up Zionist genocide against Palestinians.]

This included a teach-in at a local bookshop, a picnic and a People’s Pride rally and march. The events were a joint effort on the part of various groups active in Houston, including Queers for Palestine, Queers for Climate Justice, Workers World Party and the Young Communist League.
