Hezbollah Secretary-General says: ‘The solution will not be surrender’

The Cradle posted the following statement by Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem on May 4, 2026.

We are facing a dangerous stage in the history of our region and the future of our country and generations. The criminal Zionist enemy is ganging up on us, supported and managed by the oppressive American tyrant and backed by the nations of injustice and colonialism and those defeated ones who scramble for the crumbs of this world — crumbs soaked in the blood of genocide and the killing of childhood and life itself.

That the Resistance, its people and its supporters stand — despite their limited numbers and equipment — against the might of human monsters, offering martyrs in their most magnificent and greatest form, preventing the enemy from achieving its goals and remaining steadfast and enduring. It is this steadfastness that will lead to the forging of the future of our country, our generations and our region alongside our allies, as a future of honor, dignity and independence.

We follow the words of the Almighty: “O you who have believed, when you meet a force, stand firm and remember Allah so that you may succeed. And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”

The aggression aims to strip away rights and occupy the land and the future by force, The Resistance aims to liberate the land and achieve the justice of truth. With the Resistance, the enemy is unable to achieve its goals, no matter how tyrannical or arrogant it becomes.

There is no ceasefire in Lebanon but rather ongoing Israeli-American aggression. There are no words sufficient to condemn the targeting of civilians, villages and towns, the destruction and the killing of children, women, men and the elderly. We remain patient and we resist, and Allah Almighty is with us.

Lebanon is the party being aggressed upon, and it is the one that needs guarantees for its security and sovereignty. As for the Israeli enemy’s claim that it seeks the security of its settlements, it had obtained this through Lebanon’s strict implementation of the Nov 27, 2024, agreement for 15 months. However, the enemy did not implement a single step; it violated it more than 10,000 times, killed 500 civilians, wounded hundreds and destroyed thousands of homes. All of this is because it failed to achieve any step toward ‘Greater Israel,’ and it never will.

The army deployed south of the Litani River in implementation of the agreement. The Resistance chose methods consistent with the current stage and benefited from lessons learned. Everyone has seen the Resistance’s mastery and its surprises in the field. There is no need for geographical fixity; resistance fighters operate using hit-and-run tactics to inflict the greatest casualties and prevent the enemy from stabilizing. There is no ‘Yellow Line’ and no buffer zone, and there never will be.

‘A salute of love to our sacrificing people’

With our faith and our exclusive choice to reclaim and liberate our land, we will inevitably succeed, especially when we utilize two strengths: the Resistance and internal unity. The Resistance and its people are delivering a legendary performance; do not stab it in the back. We do not call on you to adopt its convictions, but we call on you not to serve the enemy’s camp.

As for the Authority [the government], its duty is to ensure national unity, achieve sovereignty, order the army to defend the country and address economic problems. Let it showcase its achievements and its commitment to the constitution and the Taif Agreement without selectivity. We are present — as we have always been — as a support and aid within the framework of unity and independence.

Is there a country in the world whose authority agrees with the enemy to confront the country’s resistance against occupation? There is not. Let us confront the enemy’s goals and liberate the land through our internal unity.

Four factors help us navigate this stage: the continuation of the Resistance, internal understanding, benefiting from the Iranian-American agreement and benefiting from any international or regional movement that pressures the enemy.

The solution will not be surrender. The solution will not be through engineering Lebanon as a weak country under tutelage nor through diplomacy shackled by the continuation of aggression. We are for the diplomacy that leads to stopping the aggression and implementing the agreement. We are for indirect negotiations, which yielded results in the maritime and ceasefire agreements. As for direct negotiations, they are a free concession and a service to Netanyahu and to Trump before the midterm elections.

O youth of the Resistance, you are making the dignified future. Your blood has been kneaded into the soil of Lebanon, making it impenetrable to invaders. Your banner is the one that remains. The blood of the martyrs — at their head the Master of the Martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Al-Hashemi and all the martyrs and wounded — is the light of our path.

A salute of love and cohesion to our sacrificing people, the displaced and the supporters. All thanks to those who sheltered, supported and helped — from the people, sects, parties, the media, the health sector and official institutions.
