New York City: Get ICE out of Hudson River Park!
New Yorkers confronted a March 17 meeting of the board of the Hudson River Park Trust at Pier 57 to tell them they wanted an immediate cancellation of a contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to park its vehicles at the riverside parking garage at Pier 40.

The Hudson River Park Trust operates the garage. Payments to the Trust began in 2021 under the Democratic administration of Joe Biden. The five-year agreement made then is due to end at the end of June. The board’s public stance is that it has no intention to renew the contract.
Nevertheless, people from the Chelsea neighborhood near Pier 57, as well as from other parts of the city, said loud and clear that they want the board to end the agreement now.
Chelsea resident Margarita Aguilar said that ICE enforcement vehicles being at the pier is something that worries all of the demonstrators.
