Weapons manufacturer Easy Aerial forced out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard

Demilitarize Brooklyn Navy Yard issued the following statement: 

After one and a half years of committed Demilitarize Brooklyn Navy Yard (DMNY) community organizing and escalation, Brooklyn Navy Yard (BNY) was forced to not renew Easy Aerial’s lease.

Holding a six-hour occupation, community members reclaimed the lobby of Building 77 during the February 11 BNY Development Corporation board meeting.

This is a vindication of the people’s organized power.

When we fight, we win!

After a year and a half of pressure from the Demilitarize Brooklyn Navy Yard campaign, the BNY has been forced not to renew Easy Aerial’s lease. Every single action, every sticker put up and every letter they received contributed to our

coordinated effort to evict this fascist weapons manufacturer. Implementing a multiplicity of tactics, including direct action, political education, worker outreach and deep community organizing, worked to materially impact the supply chains of imperialism, zionism and fascism.

This campaign is an example of the people’s organizing power. We do not depend on political parties or politicians to give us what we want. We refuse to compromise our radical demands to fit any agenda. We used direct action to enforce the people’s demands and organized the community to put pressure on

every part of these weapons factories and their landlord. 

After a year and a half, Easy Aerial, which makes drones for the Israel Occupation Forces (IOF), Elbit Systems and U.S. Border Patrol, was prevented from renewing their lease and will be shut down at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This was a result of the campaign’s hard work.

Keep fighting with us!

We must ensure Easy Aerial is out of New York City and everywhere and no other war profiteer replaces them on city-owned, tax-subsidized public land. This represents a validation of our strategies and principled, sustained community organizing. 

We know that symbolic actions cannot change reality. We must keep escalating the pressure on Crye Precision, which supplies [Israel’s] genocide and Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE), until we shut it down. It is our duty to keep our neighbors and immigrant communities safe. Together we can put an end to these genocide and deportation suppliers.

We will keep fighting until the Brooklyn Navy Yard is demilitarized, ICE and IOF suppliers are out of New York, and the resistance continues until Palestine is free!
