Hamas officially mourns its military spokesman ‘Abu Obeida,’ vows to continue path of resistance

Gaza, Palestine – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Monday, Dec. 29, mourned one of its most prominent and iconic public figures, Huthaifa al-Kahlout (Abu Obeida), the military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, vowing to continue the path of resistance.

The statement announced that Abu Obeida, who served as the “commander of military media,” was martyred alongside his entire family in a “treacherous and cowardly Zionist bombardment” in Gaza.

Hamas described Abu Obeida as “the thundering voice” that “rattled the beds of the occupation’s leaders and army” and inspired millions of free people worldwide.

The statement noted that he had been “a target for the Zionist enemy for over 15 years,” and that his image was always terrifying the occupation army and leaders. 

“We affirm that the Zionist occupation’s assassination of our people’s and movement’s leaders and symbols will not succeed in breaking their will and resistance,” Hamas also said, stressing that history proves that it emerges “stronger, more cohesive and more determined” after such assassinations.

The Hamas Movement concluded by saying that Abu Obeida’s legacy will always be remembered as a “thundering voice for freedom and independence.”
