Houston activists in solidarity with March for Mumia

Houston activists held a demonstration on Dec. 6 outside of the hall of the Fraternal Order of Police in solidarity with the 103-mile March For Mumia that took place in Pennsylvania from Nov. 28 until Dec. 9. It was day nine of the long march on Dec. 6, and the highlight of our protest was a phone call from Brother Zayid Muhammad who called in to our demonstration from Pennsylvania. Muhammad described the march taking place in really cold weather, but no one was complaining as longtime political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal was facing a lack of desperately-needed medical care. 

Several of those attending the Houston protest were with the Campaign to Free Xinachtli, a Texas political prisoner who is elderly and in need of serious medical care, as is Mumia. We got positive responses from people passing by and committing to fight against the elder abuse in prisons from Texas to State Correctional Institute Mahanoy in Frackville, Pennsylvania, where Mumia is imprisoned.
