WW hails the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine
Workers World wholeheartedly joins in the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, commemorated on Nov. 29. The United Nations General Assembly mandated this day in 1977 to call global attention to the oppression of Palestinians and the denial of their basic rights to freedom and self-determination. We strongly applaud the solidarity actions and demonstrations engaged in by millions of people around the globe and in the U.S.
The world’s people have watched in horror for the last two years as Israel has dropped U.S.-supplied megabombs on Gaza, and its military has participated in the carnage. Over 69,000 Palestinians have been killed, half of them women and children, with thousands more buried under rubble. The death toll includes medical and humanitarian aid workers and journalists. Israel’s restrictions — and outright blocking — of food aid has led to starvation and famine.
The “ceasefire” has been violated by Israel over and over again. At the same time, racist, Zionist settlers and Israeli soldiers have attacked and killed Palestinians in the occupied West Bank — where there were 260 settler attacks in October, says the U.N.
WW newspaper writes the real news — and refutes the corporate media’s lies, distortions and bigotry. Our editorials rail against the Zionist state’s siege of Gaza, aggression in the West Bank and bombings elsewhere in West Asia. Our articles expose and condemn the U.S. government’s complicity in staunchly backing, funding and arming the Israeli state, no matter whether a Democratic or Republican administration is in Washington.
WW is strongly partisan, siding with the besieged Palestinian people — those struggling to survive in the midst of this devastation, the imprisoned and those facing continual soldier and settler violence. We support the Palestinian Resistance in their fight for their people’s rights and their stolen land and an end to occupation and repression.
