Detroit LGBTQ Pride forum

Workers World Party-Michigan had a packed house for its 2018 LGBTQ Pride forum on June 16. Tom Kalish, chairing, reported on the successful table at the Motor City Pride festival where over 120 young activists signed up to learn more about socialism. Tyler Vosgerchian gave a history of the struggle for LGBTQ rights. Kris Hamel provided a tribute to Leslie Feinberg, summarizing hir great contributions to the transgender movement. Jamie Smedley contributed a history of the Stonewall Rebellion, relaying a talk by Sylvia Rivera. Gem Zero explained the discriminatory treatment faced by LGBTQ people in obtaining affordable housing.
