New York forum to discuss Gates & racial profiling

The New York branch of Workers World Party will be holding a public forum on “Professor Henry Gates was right—Racial profiling and police brutality are wrong”, Sat., Aug. 8, 3 p.m. at the Solidarity Center, 55 W. 17th St., Rm. 5C in Manhattan.

The featured speakers will be:

• Phebe Eckfeldt, a member of Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers, AFSCME Local 3650; a founder of the Boston Women's Fightback Network; and a leader of WWP in Boston.

• Monica Moorehead—managing editor of WW newspaper; WWP secretariat member; and editor of ‘Marxism, Reparations & the Black Freedom Struggle’ book.

• Larry Hales, a leader of Fight Imperialism, Stand Together; contributing editor of WW newspaper and a WWP national committee member.

Discussion will follow the presentations.

There will also be a special video showing of the July 29 community-labor press conference in support of Prof. Gates in Cambridge, Mass. Dinner will be served after the forum for a small donation. Call 212-627-2994 for leaflets and more information.
