Members of the Professional Staff
Congress--800 to 1,000 strong--marched around the building
where the Board of Trustees of the City University of New York
was meeting on May 24. The PSC, American Federation of Teachers
Local 2334, represents 18,000 faculty members, adjunct
professors and some technical staff at the City University of
New York. Demonstrators demanded a new contract with
substantial raises, special payments to the union welfare
fund--which provides dental and vision care--and improved
working conditions.
