NYC meeting in solidarity with Asian struggle
In both the United States and Japan,
progressives are responding to militarism with activities in
solidarity with Korea and Iraq. Workers World Party in New York
hosted a forum on Sept. 5 that heard from speakers who had
recently visited Asia. Monica Moorehead of WWP and Yoomi Jeong
of the Korea Truth Commission reported on a solidarity
conference held in Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea, and a subsequent tribunal that
condemned U.S. war crimes against that country. (See WW
newspaper, Aug. 14, "A view from inside North Korea.") Also on
the program were Sue Harris of the People's Video Network and
Janet Mayes of the International Action Center, who had
attended anti-war activities in Japan on the anniversary of the
bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (See WW newspaper, Aug. 28,
"No war on Iraq or Korea.")
