The people must stop the war
Larry Holmes, a spokesperson for the International ANSWER
coalition--Act Now to Stop War & End Racism--spoke at the
historic New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit Oct. 19. Other
speakers included the Rev. Robert Smith, head of the church,
who had been on the radio all week long calling for people to
march on Washington against the war on Oct. 26, and Detroit
City Council President Maryann Mahaffey.
Holmes stressed the need for the biggest possible turnout on
Oct. 26. "Congress won't stop this imperialist war; the United
Nations won't stop this war. It's the people who have the
power," he concluded.
