'Che lives, you murderer!'
The Mexican newspaper La Jornada reported July 28 that
Mexican art critic Alberto Hijar Serrano threw a glass of
wine in the face of Bolivian ambassador Gary Prado Salmon at
a book party in Mexico City on July 26, saying: "To Che's
health, murderer!"
Prado is the only surviving Bolivian officer involved in
the October 1967 capture and assassination of Ernesto Che
Guevara. Mexican sources quoted by La Jornada noted that
during his confirmation hearings before the Bolivian Senate
in November 2000, Prado said that in Mexico he would work to
"analyze and follow the activities of insurgent and irregular
groups in some entities, because of the influence that these
can come to exercise in our native communities because of the
commonplace phenomenon of imitation."
