High School students march against police brutality

Nearly a thousand high school and college students marched in New York against police brutality on April 5. The protest took place 41 days after the acquittal of the four cops who killed Amadou Diallo by firing 41 bullets at him. The exuberant crowd at Union Square cheered as rap artists, poets, and speakers urged a spring offensive and civil disobedience against Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and his killer cops. The students then took to the streets for a march to City Hall where 18 people were arrested for blocking the nearby Brooklyn Bridge.
