Medical journals sent to Havana
"We have just been informed that the two tons of
much-needed medical journals have crossed the Canadian border
and are on their way to Cuba," exclaimed Joan Intrator,
coordinator of the International Peace for Cuba Appeal's
medical journal project, Oct. 13. The latest shipment marks
the fifth IPCA has sent. It's scheduled to arrive when the
Second World Meeting of Friendship and Solidarity with Cuba
takes place in Havana Nov. 10-14.
The 40-year-old U.S. blockade of socialist Cuba has denied
that country access to crucial medical information and
research. Yet the Cuban people have built a medical system,
including free, quality health care for all, that remains a
model for Latin America and the world. The journals sent by
IPCA will go to the Center for Medical Science and
Information and be made available to all Cuban medical
workers.
