¡BASTA!
NY women march against sexual harassment
A June 28 march and rally called by the new group
BASTA--Bringing All Sisters To Action--made a powerful impact
in the Hamilton Heights community of upper Manhattan.
Responding to the Central Park attacks on women earlier in
the month, the overwhelmingly young and multinational crowd
called women to action against sexual harassment and
violence.
Chanting slogans such as "Women united will always be
protected," the group garnered much support as it marched
through the Latino neighborhood. BASTA leaders vowed that
more actions would take place.
