NATO POISED TO ESCALATE

Anti-war forces prepare to resist

By Leslie Feinberg

Pentagon propaganda has been aimed first and foremost at confusing the population and dividing and demoralizing the anti-war movement--the only force that has the potential to stop the generals' relentless aggression against the small country of Yugoslavia.

As the bombings intensify and talk of a ground war grows louder, is the Pentagon winning the ideological battle--or are the anti-war forces uniting and growing?

Flounders is co-director of the International Action Center, which initiated the June 5 march and joined with others in the Emergency Mobilization to Stop the War.

Flounders said the ranks of the anti-war movement are the key to winning new forces: "Everyone who comes to June 5 must become an organizer to involve hundreds more."

To facilitate that goal, the Emergency Mobilization is "preparing organizers' kits for June 5 march participants. The packets will include leaflets, press releases, a fact sheet and information on how to most effectively organize," she explained.

On that day we will see tens of thousands--and hopefully hundreds of thousands--in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and other regional centers."

Becker added, "Now that the U.S. is planning for a ground
