Children to march against death penalty

Aug. 17, hundreds of children from the United States and around the world will begin a three-day, 30-mile march to Pennsylvania's death row in Waynesburg, Pa. Mumia Abu-Jamal is imprisoned there.

The march begins in New Meadow Run Bruderhof in Farmington, Pa. The children's march is aimed at drawing public attention to the need to abolish the death penalty and at bringing increased attention to political prisoners in the United States.

The "Children's Crusade to Death Row" is organized by the Bruderhof Foundation, Inc. Endorsers include former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, folk singers Pete Seeger and Tom Paxton, "Dead Man Walking" author Sister Helen Prejean, Native political prisoner Leonard Peltier, death row activist Mumia Abu-Jamal and many others.
