Durham, N.C.: ‘Black lives matter’

Photo: Bryan G. PfeiferA diverse audience participated in a film screening and discussion entitled “From Ferguson to Durham: Black Lives Matter” at the Hayti Center in Durham, N.C., on Sept. 28, sponsored by the Workers World Party Durham branch and the group Black Is. The event included a lively discussion led by Workers World Party leader Monica Moorehead and Black Is activist Layla Brown.

Moorehead recently visited Ferguson in late August. She showed a short video of interviews she did with Black youth there. The crowd connected local and international struggles with imperialism and found ways to show solidarity with Ferguson.

The group is organizing transportation to Ferguson for the Oct. 11-13 protest events. For details contact Lamont Lilly at [email protected].
