New Yorkers protest rape verdict
Published Jun 1, 2011 5:07 PM
Hundreds of angry women and men came out May 27 to protest the acquittal
of two New York City cops who stood trial for raping a woman they were called
to assist. The demonstration started at 100 Centre St., a Manhattan court
building, and marched to the entrance of 1 Police Plaza, where several hundred
people faced off against cops in riot helmets behind barricades. Then the march
went back to the street and headed over the Brooklyn Bridge. Chants at the
protest included “Stop police brutality” and “No justice, no
peace, f - - - the police!”
