LGBT group denounces Israel

Chanting, “Queers come out and take a stand, there’s too much
blood on Israel’s hands!” an angry group of LGBTQ activists
picketed on June 17 in front of the Castro Theatre in San Francisco to protest
Israeli support of the Frameline LGBT Film Festival. The action, organized by
Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism, maintained a strong presence in front of
the theater for two hours.
According to a QUIT statement released at the protest, progressive members of
the LGBTQ community are opposed to this year’s Israeli Consulate
sponsorship of the film festival. The statement strongly criticized
Israel’s massacres, imposed starvation and military occupation of the
Palestinian people. Signs at the protest also highlighted the recent Israeli
military attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla.
The QUIT statement reminded members of the LGBTQ community that “we are
not so desperate for acceptance that we will ally ourselves with racists and
murderers.”
