LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Another double standard in Black and white

Published Mar 19, 2010 7:53 PM

As soon as I saw the WW editorial about the “Double standards in Black and white,” I immediately thought of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. For the second time in less than two years, a woman has courageously come forward to report a sexual assault by this white quarterback. He has yet to be charged in either case. In fact, his lawyer team has now engaged a private investigator to probably dig up dirt on the woman. This sounds similar to the 2006 rape case of members of the Duke lacrosse team where the character of the victim, an African-American woman, was put on trial and the prosecutor was fired for daring to charge the sons of privileged white people with rape and sexual assault. Charges were eventually dropped against the players.

A word to the bourgeoisie: The fury and desperation of our class is growing with each cutback and injustice, and when the tipping point comes, it’s not going to be pretty.
