BAYAN-USA and the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) organized a protest against the unpopular U.S. imperialist ally President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the Philippines. She was scheduled to attend an event at the Sheraton Hotel Nov. 21 in Los Angeles, on her way to the APEC Summit in Peru Nov. 22-23 but canceled. The organizers demanded the ousting of Macapagal-Arroyo and withdrawal of all U.S. troops in the Philippines. Other organizations at the rally included ILPS member organizations International Action Center and the International Migrants Alliance as well as the FMLN, Puerto Rican Alliance, Anti-Racist Action, Anakbayan and an Al-Awda member.
