Published Jul 16, 2007 1:42 AM
It was a full house at the Malcolm X Library July 9 when
San Diegans gathered to welcome West Coast caravanistas with the 18th Cuba
Friendshipment Caravan, initiated by Pastors for Peace, on their way to Cuba
with medical and other humanitarian aid. In the photo, from left to right,
Ananda and her grandmother, Gloria Verdieu of the International Action Center,
who spoke on the case of the Cuban Five; Emiliana and her mother, Catalina
García, of San Diego FIST—Fight Imperialism Stand Together, who will
be part of the FIST delegation to Cuba this month; and Kathy Hughart of Friends
of Cuba and the International Action Center, one of the main organizers of
Malcolm X Library event. The event was sponsored by San Diego Friends of Cuba
and co-sponsored by Activist San Diego, the San Diego Peace and Justice
Coalition, the Peace & Democracy Action Group and the International Action
Center.
